Sexual Harassment and Discrimination Awareness Information Training
Introduction
This educational exercise has been developed with the cooperation and assistance of the Equal Opportunity Office, the Offices of the Senior Vice President and Provost, the Office of Legal Counsel, the Office of Administrative Affairs, the Office of Human Resources, and the Department of Information Technology.
This on-line exercise is not meant to replace advice from the offices named above. In all of the scenarios depicted in the on-line exercise the University employee with the responsibility for making the decision should seek guidance from the offices of General Counsel, Equal Opportunity or Human Resources before making a final decision. Most of the situations covered by this on-line exercise fall within the jurisdiction of the Office of Equal Opportunity. The Equal Opportunity Office is located in Evans Hall, Room 102, on the Norman campus; and in the Service Center Building, Room 113, on the Health Sciences Center campus. The Equal Opportunity Office in Norman may be contacted at (405) 325-3546 and in Oklahoma City at (405) 271-2110.
Participation is important and is required of all members of the University of Oklahoma community. The program is offered on-line; you may complete the exercise at your convenience. After completion, the University will automatically have a record of your compliance with the training requirement. The exercise will take an average of 15 to 20 minutes to complete.
Three separate exercises are offered: one for supervisory staff/supervisory faculty and administrators, one for non-supervisory faculty, and one for non-supervisory staff. Please select the exercise that best corresponds with your primary job responsibilities.
Completing This Exercise
This exercise is divided into two parts. The first part is a short "slide show" overview of current harassment and employment discrimination workplace issues. The second part is an issue/solution exercise in which discrimination related scenarios and their appropriate resolutions are provided. The entire exercise will take under twenty minutes to complete. You must complete the entire exercise in one session in order to receive credit.
Receiving Credit
Complete the certification form presented at the end of the exercise. You must include your six digit EMPLID to receive credit. NOTE: University of Oklahoma employees can find their EMPLID on their payroll earnings statement. If that is not available, please ask your departmental office manager or payroll coordinator for your number. When you submit the form,
you will have an opportunity to print a copy of the certification for your records. We recommend that you keep a copy for yourself and give a copy to your supervisor. If you do not complete and submit the form, we will not be able to verify that you completed the exercise and you will not receive credit.
Scores and Confidentiality
A record of your date of completion is the only information that will be retained by the University. No score or grade is recorded or maintained. The University's goal is to make sure this important information is made available to every employee.
