What is my OUNet ID? What is my OUNet ID password?

Your OUNet ID ("4 plus 4")

To access your OUNet account, you will need to know your OUNet ID or username (sometimes referred to as your "4 plus 4"):

Take the first 4 letters of your last name (lowercase)
+ the last 4 digits of your 9-digit OU ID number
= Your OUNetID

So, for example, if your last name is Sooner and your 9-digit OU ID number is 123-45-6789, then your OUNetID is: soon6789. If your last name has only 3 or less then your OUNet id will be all of the letters in your last name plus the last four numbers of your OU ID number.

Activating your account and choosing a password. You will need to activate your account if you are new to OU and have not used your OUNet account (i.e., have not enrolled in classes using enroll.ou.edu, have not used your OU email account, etc.) To activate your account, follow these steps:
  • go to http://account.ou.edu and click on "New Users: Activate your account here"
  • enter your OUNet ID (also known as your "4+4") and your birthdate ( MM/DD/YYYY)
  • answer five password questions (you will need to answer these questions if you forget your password in the future and need to reset the password)
  • create a new password
What if I forget my password?

If you have forgotten your password, you can reset your password online at any time by answering your password questions:
  • go to http://account.ou.edu
  • click on the link that says: "Forgot your password? Reset it here."
  • answer the password questions to reset your password
If you are not able to reset your password online, you can visit one of the IT Service Centers with a valid photo ID and they will assist you in resetting your password. Visit http://support.ou.edu for IT Service Centers hours and locations.
